Angela Johnson, a Housing Choice Voucher client, is a perfect example of motivation and resolve. She attended the HATC Community Resource Fair in 2017, where she got introduced to the Nursing Assistant (NA) training program through the Goodwill Career & Technical Academy (GCTA).
The NA training program provides classroom instruction and hands-on clinical training to prepare students to qualify for the National Nurse Aide Assessment Program (NNAAP), the final state examination, and become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
Through this training program, students undergo 4 weeks, 122 hours of intense instruction on long term care, personal care skills, basic nursing skills, restorative services, mental health and social service needs, and clinical and lab training. Angela successfully completed her certification on May 03, 2018 and passed her state examination months after. Ms. Johnson is now working as a CNA.
The training program is affordable and comprehensive and is designed to teach students the essential skills needed to provide basic care to patients.
